Title: Gear stick travel
Post by: I_want_GTI on 25 October 2012, 21:40
Hey - just wondering if anyone has changed their gear stick to the vwr short shift or any other kind?

For me it feels like that the gear stick is having to travel quite far to change gear, my previous car (civic type s) the gear change was quick and precise. Anyone think the same?

I have the VWR quickshift...lovely piece of kit.
I have it set at the closest...and it's great.

S3 is same as Ed30/Ed35 so may was well get one with a VW stamp on it

ran a VWR shifter and was nice piece of kit but not exactly cheap these days

when i had gearbox issues on the roc first thing i got Mr RAC man to remove was the VWR shifter :)

is yours an ed35?

it was different to my gti. the pivot pin was about 5mm further in on the S3 part.

Nope just GTI. It was exactly the same. We checked everything, so not sure whether the 2012's are using the S3 shifter now. Fitted it anyway and didn't notice a difference

I know that the s3 one on Kens is quite different to my
2010 oem GTI one as I drove the two cars back to back. Maybe its standard now.

Someone with ETKA needs to type the S3 ones part number in and see were its used.
Would solve the question.
