Title: False alarms - toad ai606
Post by: Ozz on 25 October 2012, 15:16
Ok so yesterday I finally got round to wiring up my toad on my '90 golf gti, doing it myself as its just for my piece of mind, not needed for insurance or anything. I didn't quite finish it off as I came down with a case of man flu so turned in early!

So far I've wired up the alarm module and siren, indicator flash, door sensor, central locking and ultrasonic sensors. When i arm it chirps 3 times, and when i disarm the led stays red, however I'm guessing these are because I haven't wired up the immobiliser yet.

The problem I have is that the alarm has a tendency to go off by itself. Would this be most likely caused by the sensors being too sensitive or could it be a dodgy earth or similar? I have tried turning down the sensitivity on the alarm module but can't seem to get it to turn!

Any help would be much appreciated as there's no point having an alarm if I can never leave it armed!

Cheers,

Ozz

not being funny but did you use the manual & the wiring diagram for your car?

1). It ment to chirp/indicators flash twice if you disarm it & chirp/indicators flash once when you arm it.
2). When you have armed the alarm the led flashes every 2-3 seconds
3). When you disarm the alarm but do not open the door, the led shoudl flash rapidly green for 60 seconds before the re-arms itself
4). when you disarm your alarm & open A door the alarm LED will go orange & you have 30 seconds OR 60 seconds before the imobliser arms (this is before you turn your ignition on)

hope that helps
p.s i have the instalation manual if you require. just pm me your email addy

Hi there, i did use the manual and wiring diagrams, however I had a bit of a nightmare with the wiring in my car as the previous owner has monkeyed around with it all!

My indicators flash once when i disarm and theres no chirp, when i arm they flash three times with three chirps.

When armed the led flashes red slowly, as it should. When disarmed the led stays solid orange, indicating the immobiliser is still active. It never goes green.

if it chirps 3 times then either you havent connected A wire from the alarm to A door switch or A door switch does not work properly or isnt connected. orange light means door open. in the installation manual go to page 8 & its at the bottom what the flashes mean.

FLASHES                    TRIGGER INPUT              FLASHES                 TRIGGER INPUT

      2                           Optional sensors                    5                              Doors (+)
      3                                Doors (-)                           6                        Ultrasonic sensors
      4                             Boot/bonnet                         7                                Ignition

this graph shows what each flash/beep means also the LED will flash so many times when you turn the ignition on count them if you mis-read your indicator flash

i have the manual as a PDF file i could always email it to you if you pm me your address. only reason is because there is a safty wire that i am NOT willing to discuss publicly sorry
