Title: engine year?

I have an engine number, can anyone tell me the year of the engine - I have bought it recon and need the year for wiring *   KR064870   *

KR engine is in the supplement in the back of my Haynes manual that covers VW Golf and Jetta 1984 to 1988. Its listed as 1.8 GTI 16V.  16V engine was fitted from to GTI models from October 1986 onwards (according to Haynes)

I'll look it up on my ETKA, its a long running engine so will be over a few years.

I.e. 86-92

i presume ur wondering do u need a pre or post 90 loom?

did the engine come with all the ancilliaries?

you could tell by lookin at airbox, early boxes have the short fat box

but i guess u've only got the block & head
