Title: Car Transportation
Post by: Agreeable Slick on 23 October 2012, 23:05
So, using search I've found lizardlogistics and will give them a shout tomorrow.

Basically, I might need someone to transport a car from the south coast to South Yorkshire, I realise that it won't be cheap but i'd rather that my pants weren't pulled down getting it done. So can anyone help with a company, or indeed with a trailer who wouldn't mind earning a few quid?

TIA.

Been looking into this today myself, have you had a look on ebay some were really cheap.

Was looking on eBay, I reckon it's averaging ~£300 though, which IMO is a bit steep.

Off to bed now though, so will pick this up tomorrow.

Hard to say, only other thing I can suggest is try your local low loader firms and see if they go that way often if so you may find they sometimes come back empty in which case you should get a good price as a back load.

Get it listed on Shiply and wait a few days and see how cheap it gets...

£300.00 Is mega expensive... £150.00 to 200 is the most I would pay & I use shiply regular like to get cars moved...

Same as X4MGS

Shiply are who I use, and you know how often I require transporter and low loader services!

Managed to get a car from Pontefract to Basingstoke for £110

when i got clive moved, I sh!tcanned shiply as the fees are worse than ebay  :lipsrsealed:

went onto ebay, in the area I was buying from,  found a suitable firm, and went with them, that way they then source a backload from you, their final destination, ALL quotes i got were cheaper than using firms near me to go get it

If you have RAC/AA cover you could always immobilize it in such way the mechanic won't be able to diagnose by the roadside and just get a recovery truck to take you home  :lipsrsealed:

All well and good, but they may smell something when they turn up and it has a few body panels, doors, glass and maybe an engine missing.

I can just imagine an AA bloke opening the bonnet, stroking his chin then turning and saying "see, there's ya problem!"

You're assuming it would have a bonnet... :lipsrsealed:

I looked into this recently. I wanted to move a Polo 2 miles up the road, no Tax/MOT or insurance, and a non runner.
The cheapest shiply quoted was £55 plus fees, a bit steep for 10 minutes work.
Any suggestions? Camberley area.

He is unremittingly flattering about pretty much everyone.

It's because he's a tosspiece.
