Title: Mk2 Golf Stereo

My mk2's stereo is ALWAYS on! anyway i can change this just to when the keys are turned? any ideas?

try switching the red and yellow wires around at the back of the headunit. they just unplug

don't swap the red and yellow wires thats for the headunits memory (constant live). u need to check ur main live wire (probably red) is off when the ignition is off. I.e. get a muliti meter and check the red wire is live when  the ignition is on, and off when the ignition is off

I had a similar problem when I first installed my HU; there was a double plug at the yellow wire from the back of the stereo and once I'd plugged the red wire (from the back of the stereo) into the double plug ie together with the yellow wire it worked.

My stereo had an off button which you had to press in order to turn it off (even after the ignition had been switched off).

However now I've mucked it up and I cant even seem to find a permanent live from the car wiring loom.... :cry: so when my HU powers up it has no memory.

You might find that if your mk2 is anything like mine, then you will need to put in your own ignition live, i took mine from the back of the hazard light switch, and i think its the black/blue wire.  might not be of any help, but there goes
