I dont believe it!! (well i do a bit) but my beloved golf has failed it's mot today for these problems.
1. o/s/r wheel bearing worn to excess
2. n/s/r wheel bearing has excess play
3. n/s/f wheel bearing has excess play
4. no reserve travel on the handbrake
Now No 1 is going to have to be a new wheel bearing but can i tighten up No 2 and 3 without having to change the bearings and can anyone explain what No 4 is and how i fix it?
If anyone can help me i would be really grateful
cheers ryan

1 Rear wheel bearing about £10 easy fix
2. Rear wheel bearing play no cost just adjust
3, front bearing can't adjust front about £15 for kit harder than the rears need to remove drive shaft ,disk and press to old one out berfore pressing the new in
4, hand brake level comming up to the top of the clicks, to high. try removing the consul and tightening the cabel adjusters nuts on the end of the cable with the hand brake off may be lucky if that don't work my mean new calipers £70 per sideÂÂÂ
number four is if you have rear disks, if you have drums then they need adjusting or new shoesÂÂÂ
good luck

you can also try a new handbrake cable for number 4 might fix the problem as it's probably as old as the car I know mine looked like it was!
