Dear All,
Me and a mate changed the radiator this morning, we were generally looking around the engine bay and noticed we could see into the gearbox housing through the top.My mate said its missing a bung/screw cap. Can anyone tell me if this part has a technical name?. Its located as you look down on the gearbox housing a round hole with what looks like a screw thread milled into it!
Hope I am making sense, any help would be welcomed!
Thanks
Jason

I think its the flywheel inspection cap. It is green in colour.

Noticed mine was missing when I bought my car last year, what gearbox do you have? if you don't have the 6 speed like me let me know and I'll check part number is same for other models.
PLUG - 02M 301 115 B - £3.31 + VAT
(rubber plug, fits 6 speed diesel gearbox flywheel inspection hole)
Its a black rubber plug looks like top from a hot water bottle

Yeah I'm missing the same thing in my 1.6  Will I have a different part number for mine? Might pop into VW if I can't find one on ebay or something

Checked on ETKA and there looks to be 3 different types for the 5 speed, the 6 speed only uses the one I quoted previously.
