Title: PD 130 1.9D turbo failed
Post by: Dolly on 20 October 2012, 10:30
basically my mates 2003 1.9tdi PD130 Ibiza has just blown up.

The turbo has failed and filled the inlet and engine with its own oil.

It cut out at 60ish MPH.

Now i now the turbo, breathers, oil ect all need doing but.. What are the chances its bent a rod? its obviously  caused the engine to stop.

It does crank albeit about how speed ( the battery is flat after he waited 3 hours for recovery )

Thing is he only wants £500 for it so i dont know whether its worth a punt

A compression test would be worth doing, that would soon confirm any real problems.

Fairly strong motors. Mine went at approx 50mph

Always worth doing extra checks for peace of mind before putting everything back together again though
