 I keep a car in the Isle of Man. It gets used about 8 weeks per year, festering outside for the other 44 weeks. I do about 2,000 miles per year. So with Vauxhall's lifetime 100,000 mile warranty the car will have warranty for 50 years.
New delivery miles Zafira 1.6 (poweeer) £8500 off list, cost 10k. Can't wait for it to go wrong to test out that warranty.
-
You won't have a 50 year warranty on any car, never mind a vauxhall. Will be 100,000 miles or a fixed number of years, whichever comes first.
In fact it appears there is no time limit on that warranty although an annual inpestion from vauxhall is required for it to remain in service. Can't go wrong there I guess.
-
I intend getting the warranty reset/inspection done during the annual service at the Vauxhall dealer in Douglas.
The warranty stops dead if you miss the inspection or sell the car.
My Ford used to end up with sticking fuel injectors and brakes from just sitting there doing nothing.

I think I'm going to reconsider my choice of family car! I can't be driving the same as Egbutt Wash.
-
if youve got the 1.6 petrol then get rid! the worst engine/car combo ever! truly horrid to drive compared to the diesel models
-
Why bother for 8 weeks a year, jut take your car over on the ferry.

You are joking right?
A diesel for 2000 miles a year.
Get real.
My apologies, I've just read your profile and it turns out you are a 23 year old kid. So your ignorance is just down to lack of any experience rather than stupidity.

Why not?
The only VW I could buy for 10K new is the titchy little UP! With a warranty that will run out after 6000 miles.

The zafira isn't a bad car it's just like a fridge really, just an appliance but its very practical however the diesels are the only ones worth having even if you hardly ever drive it, i test drove a 1.6 when we had one and it was a very strange car to drive as it seemed to have the shortest gearing i've ever come across and this made it thirsty and difficult to drive smoothly.
-
These cars are equipped with DPFs. The dealers are encouraged by Vauxhall to not sell diesels to low milage/short trip users.
I found the gearbox just right and easy to use. As my preference is for powerful automatics (easy speed) or underpowered manuals (sense of achievement) then, for me, it's my perfect choice and at ten thousand pounds a bargain.

I'm actually agreeing with Mr Wash here
For the requirements, good car, good deal!
-
even if they gave away free Bj's with a vauxhall i wouldnt buy one

expensive bj that would be

would it have made sense to just hire a car when you need one over there ?
personaly i wouldn't buy any vhauxhall with a DPF, so the petrol is a good choice with the amout of DPF's that are going tits i would have to think carefully about owning a car with one even if in warranty as ealers are getting good at worming out of replacements
-
monaro is the only oen i'd buy.
even if i did only do 2000 miles a year in it i still wouldnt own any other vauxhall

I thought you struggled to keep a banger golf on the road, never mind buying a new Monaro
Walk the walk not talk the talk

It's about £440 per week to hire a seven seater. Thats 3,500 for 8 weeks a year.
Over 10 years 35,000 pounds. Plus all the faffing about getting a hire car then taking it back and the hire company pretending you have scuffed it.
But the main reason is I like to own cars. Different makes and types are fun.
