Title: Common places for boost leeks?
Post by: duckman on 18 October 2012, 20:21
Hi guys, I'm sure my gti has a boost leek, dv valve has been changed and most vacuum pipes replaced, and no visible signs or split pipes, is there anything common faults?

what makes you think you have a leak?
do you have a boost gauge, if so whats it reading.

common places are both sides of the pancake pipe (behind drivers wheel)
under the inlet manifold where the PCV system is
look for oil on pipes, boost leaks, leak oil

Seems really sluggish, plus I've noticed a high pitched whistle when accelerating aswell as the normal induction turbo noise, doesn't pull as it did but ill check the pan cake pipe thanks bud and get the odd cough when driving at motor way speeds

Line coming off DV
Check all connections are tight
Y piece behind inlet manifold
PVC system
Boost lines coming off charge pipe
Intercooler pipes

Pretty much everything under the bonnet

If its a diesel,I've had the intercooler pipe behind the drivers headlight pop off before.
