This demo's its ability quite well I'd say

It'll be interesting to see what other OEM's dish out. The Surface does look pretty damn swish, it's durability is awesome from the tests they've shown and it's incredibly fast, rocking the same CPU as the HTC one X and other Tegra 3 T30 based tablets / phones - and Steven Sinofsky using it as a skate board was good fun!
-
That looks amazinggggggg
A replacement for a laptop you reckon?
-
Looks good on first impressions.
-
first time a tablet has interested me
-
64Gb with Type cover has been pre-ordered  Roll on Friday!!!
-
It's due to arrive tomorrow !
Can't. Freakin'. Wait.
Reviews are mixed and mostly seem to miss the whole point of Windows 8 entirely or are too used to how Tablet OS's are currently used.
-
Jay, it'd be really cool if you could an indepth review along with photos when it arrives. It does look good with the ports and all that. Can't wait for third party software to be available.
-
That's the plan
-
But will it blend?
-
If the blender is big enough.
-
You lot buy me one and I'll see if it can blend
Drop test - you've got to be pretty confident in your product to do this.

Windows 8 Pro upgrade is £25 on Microsoft Store as a download or £50 for the boxed disc.

Had an old Sanyo personal computer back in the day, with dual 5 & 1/4" floppy drives, black/green monitor etc. It had THE BEST text adventure games.
You are in a dark forest. There is a fork in the path.
"east"
You see a wall in front of you.
"climb"
You cannot perform that action.
"smash wall"
You cannot perform that action.
"dig under wall"
You cannot perform that action.
"f### off"
I do not understand that command.

Text adventures were ace, however the graphics & text games like the Quest games from Sierra were superb! Kings Quest and Space Quest wasted so many hours of my life

Do you remember the horrible vision you'd have after staring at a black/orange or black/green screen for an hour?

Jay I'm really tempted to run windows 8 with that link...
-
Windows 8.... I love all the negativity it has produced, a tablet interface on a pc just for me doesnt work. Oh and the surface is a gimmick, comes in two versions and specs. The £400 one has windows RT, which does not allow external apps to be installed only apps from marketplace. The other surface tablet has a bigger spec and runs win8 pro which will allow external apps.
For the price you can just buy a asus eepad (eg transformer) or a all-in-one pc for the same money at a 21-22" spec, however yet again using the ghey metro on a big screen is a no no, why windows has forced a pc to be like a tablet has baffled me, so much that I've started looking at imacs for the future
Now off to use a real device... a snes or a pc with win7

This thread turned into a wave your walking stick game!

Best text based adventure games were made by magnetic scrolls

Taking a long time for Jay to report back on Surface!

Taking a long time for Jay to report back on Surface!
Len, that is because I'm bloody busy, 12 hour days + travelling time + family time = not a lot of time to do sweet F all else. It's a lovely device, I'd have it over any Android tablet I've tried so far. The Store is lacking some apps, but it's got a good amount of top apps. I don't get the need for a facebook or twitter app other people keep moaning about, it's got a damn fine IE10 to browse the web.
-
AND?
Is that it?

Our Survey says..

Although I think you might see the full fat 'surface' flatform take off in the commercial / corporate 'space'.
-
i want the powerful one. when are they released?
-
Isn't the x86 version a bit expensive for what it is?
-
probably but i need it to run full office suite and use software to generate invoices on site.
-
It's a superb device, it's better than I expected and the available apps are growing rapidly! The touch keyboard is much better to use than you'd expect, it's a weird experience using it at first !

Not really, it's about the same price as ultrabooks and have the same internals as an ultrabook (i3-i7's) with a higher res screen than the Surface RT.
