Currently got a small sealey 1.4mm gun which is no good to paint a car
Or should I go for a gravity fed gun? Probably looking at 2nd hand devilbiss guns if so

2MM nozzle is too big i think.
Id be looking at your gravity fed second hand guns.
Lad at work (paint sprayer) uses a devilbiss for priming and sata guns for base and lacquer. Out the gun finish is great!

I'll get some info on sata. Why would you say 2mm is too big?
Recon i stay safe and go 1.8mm?
Gun i have is more for touch ups... small panels, wheels etc

A 1.4mm gravity gun set up is more than adequate to paint a car, most paint manufacturers recommend a 1.3mm set up for their lacquer and basecoat.
I paint commercials and airport equipment and will sometimes use 30-40 litres of paint all going through a 1.4mm sata.
Look on eBay for a 2nd hand devilbiss gti or a sata but you will also need a compressor that will produce around 14cfm
Cheers Marc

Thanks for that, maybe the gun I've been using isn't a 1.4mm and I've been miss informed!
Not to mention 1 minute it was fine ans the next it was spraying 2 lines  stupid thing.
I think with the prices of sata guns being worth more than the car being sprayed I'll go 2nd hand

Go for a pair of second hand gravity fed DeVilbiss GTI's. one for paint, the other for Lacquer, tip sizes are very subjective, and are really a personal preference, combine that with all the different paints and lacquers that are used in the Motortrade, there is no wrong or right set up, practice and technique is the name of the game... A gun with smaller cap and tip sizes, can be extremely frustrating after a while, simply doesn't put paint where you want it, and yet a larger setup could be your worst nightmare!
Different size tips and caps come up on ebay all the time. People who use the same gun for both paint and lacquer, generally will have found a happy compromise between the 2 setups... If you go that route, then ask questions to the seller, what the gun was used for etc...
The gun in your link, I've thrown away better ones! They're for kids!
When you buy any gun, or power tools, make sure, the "Free Air Delivery" of your compressor exceeds the usage of those tools, so many over look this!
