Title: Removing/fitting wing mirrors?
Post by: Mitching on 17 October 2012, 17:39
Came home today to find this:

I don't think I'll have a problem getting hold of a replacement mirror, but how are they removed and fitted?

Easy job, just the need the tools, open ur drivers door, there should be a plastic cover right where the mirror goes inside the car, pop that open, unscrew or unbolt the mirror, and hold the mirror incase when unscrew it , it falls and smashes even more, get ur new mirror and same procedure, bolt it back in ....... and close the cover .... & bobs ur uncle its all done, wont even take u 10 mins......

And what about removing the door card, to gain access to the mirror remote cables! :lipsrsealed:

Manual adjustment!
The joys of having a poverty spec!

Does the cable detach from the inside of the mirror or the adjuster?

Yep door card has to come off.
Remove the plastic wing mirror cover on inside of car first or you'll break it.
Pop cover off the grab handle, unscrew and remove.
Same for window winder.
Slide the surround for the door release forward (I think) and it will pop off.
Pop off the rubber grommet on the mirror adjuster.
Unscrew the plasctic door pin.
Remove the screws for the door card.
EASE the bottom clips out holding the door card.
Bit I always forget off the top of my head, but where the doorcard meets the glass, this should ease out horizontally form the rubber seal.

Thats the card off, fairly obvious from there, undo the screws holding wing mirror on etc.

Whilst you have the card off, worth checking the drain holes inside the bottom of the door aren't blocked. It's also a good opportunity to check the plastic membrane and replace or reseal if necessary.

Perfect!
