Post by: crimsonfin on 17 October 2012, 12:01

Does anyone know how to disable the emissions warning light (http://i55.tinypic.com/b5nyqb.jpg) on the dash?

Cheers

Yes.

Fix your car

What's the reason?  Have you had it de-catted?? What model is it?

If its petrol and been de-catted then you'll need it mapped out

Car is totally standard.

Light came on a couple of weeks ago and dealer had a look and advised that a couple of hoses were loose which could have been causing the issue.  They tightened up everything and reset the light but warned that it might not be the end of it (£80 down!).

A week later light is back on.  Im looking to possibly trade the car in this weekend and would prefer (innocently ) pretending that all is ok instead of shelling out the £200 i was quoted for the extra parts which "might" fix it prior to trading it in.

Im thinking that any dealer who bothers to give the car a good look might not be too impressed with the big yellow warning light on the dash and would use it as an excuse to beat me with the big money stick!

You need someone with VAGCOM or a code reader to at least extinguish it.

However, if its a permanent fault, that light will come straight back on
