I'e got a 98 Vento with the AGG engine. Last year it passed its MOT but the tester advised replacing the Front upper strut mounts. My local VW dealer has quoted me about £24 each just for the rubbers, but you can buy them for a lot less on e-bay and local motor factors and the bearings are usually included. Is it best to fit genuine and is it necessary to replace the bearings ? Thanks!.

Try AVS car parts, they sell Febi mounts which are OE quality, less than half the price, and include bearings.
-
Is it lowered?
I stick to genuine.
-
try euro car parts, we get discount from the forum........

Thanks for your help, I have followed the first answer cheers. just under £24 for the lot.

Be hearing same question in 4 months
-
If its lowered make that 2 months.
-
Why do you say that? Febi is Bilstein and every time I've used their top mounts they have been fantastic quality.
-
I agree but low cars tend to be quite hard on the top mounts.
-
OEM is quality, I dont think I have a single part on my car that is not.
Nope cant think of any! And im

It isn't lowered. I don't use it very much and I might just leave the bits on the passenger seat, to show that I mean to fit them which might buy me another year

If you search you can still get VR6 spec (heavy duty) febi top mounts...ideal for low cars (but febi stopped making them a couple of years ago!!)

Is there any way of telling the difference as i'm guessing some people might list them as h/d but are normal Gti ones.
