Hi guys usually in the mk4 section but my sister in law has a problem on her her 2.0 TDi. The car is not running it starts and then cuts out almost like an immobiliser issue. Occasionally it has run but there are no lights or dials working on the clocks. I am lead to believe everything runs through the instrument cluster and there could be a fault there?
Anyone had anything similar?

140 or 170??
How old is the battery?? If there are no lights etc id start by looking at that
-
It's a 140. I will check about the battery it's turns over fine so wouldn't say the battery is too old. Also apparently there is a clicking sound behind the clocks. .

Check the fuses on the top of the battery
Could be a faulty relay somewhere too :undecided:

I haven't looked at the car yet but appArently the battery is a year old. I will scan it for codes this week. Hopefully someone has had experience with a cluster / immobiliser issue.

^^
it sounds like you have the symptoms of a faulty relay 460, on the relay board above the drivers footwell. its about a tenner from the dealers

what does relay 460 do?? as my mk5 gt has the noise coming from behind the clocks sometimes...

Scanned the instrument cluster for codes today and there were none. On Monday morning it started fine and has been fine all week. Odd one !
