Title: MK4 radiator fan staying on and running battery flat
Post by: sparky2010 on 14 October 2012, 08:50
Hu

I have read severals posts on this and have tried replacing the thermo sensor, fan controller module and checked all the fuses.

The problem is that after switching off the engine, even only if it's been on for a minute, the rad fan stays on continuiosly until it runs the battery runs flat.

Any ideas! Thanks

Do you mean the rad fan switch in the side of the rad? These are quite common? There are fuses on top of the battery, are they all okay?

Your thermostat isnt stuck shut is it and therefore the fan is doing it's usual job? Does car stay at 90?

Hi

I have just changed the fan switch and checked all the fuses on top of the battery and it's all ok.

The fan starts even before I start the engine, when I turn the key to the first position the fans on the drivers side starts straight away?

Any ideas?
