Hi,
I have a 1988 Golf MK1 GTi Conevrtible which although the paint work looks fine, is starting to show some patches of rust. (Near the inside of the door etc)
Question: Is it worth painting the car now or wait for the paint work to worsen?
Also, does anyone know garages who can do great bodywork/servicing for my Golf at reasonable or even cheap rates? (Around maidenhead area).
Finally, if a good paint job is udnertaken, how many years should this last?
Thanks

Kill any rust as soon as you can.
It'll only go deeper, get worse and prove harder to cure. I speak from experience.

Hi there
You were asking about servicing for your golf - i take my old girl down to Mill Road Garage in Caversham and they have always done a good job for me. My sister has also joined the lofty heights of Golf ownership in the last year and takes hers there too - she is very happy with them too. Also if you are going to go down the main dealer route i would suggest either Ridgeway Reading or Whites Camberley as they know what they are talking about, whereas the problems i have had with the maidenhead one - trying to get a sensible answer is just ridiculous!
Good luck!
