Title: Strange whine when changing down into 3rd
Post by: DonVitto82 on 12 October 2012, 21:28
Hi new to the forum so first thing first hight to all :)

Im hoping someone on here will be able to help with a issue im having when changing down into 3rd gear, or at least point me in the right direction!

I own an AUQ 6 speed and when i down shift into 3rd theres quite a load whine as i release the clutch as the load is taken up. Once the clutch is fully out theres no noise what so ever. The noise is louder the higher the revs are when i try and shift down. if im going slow enough it doesnt make a sound at all. It ONLY happens when shifting down into 3rd :/ I thought maybe a shaft bearing or diff bearing but theres no whine under normall driving. Then i thought syncro but i have no trouble getting it into gear at all.

So im hoping someone can shed some light on the issue or have experienced a similar issue. Thanks in advance!

Sounds like the collar in the gearbox isn't engaging with the gear as smooth as it should, replacement gearbox might be needed.
