Title: VCDS for T5 Towbar?
Post by: Exonian on 11 October 2012, 14:39
Would any of you very knowledgable people know how to activate the electrics on a VW T5 Transporter?

A work colleague of mine has just fitted a tow bar to his T5 and I said I'd code it in for him to save him the expense of having a garage do it.
I have the VCDS cable but I don't have a lot of familiarity with it having only used it to code a few things to my car and clear a few fault codes on people's cars at work.

I maybe wrong but when I removed the towbar from my mk4 I had to remove the wiring loom that was attached to the towbar FROM my headlight and indicator wiring etc...What sort of connections does he have on the towbar?

Just been and had a look at the tow bar. It's a decent quality one and looks like the loom plugs into the rear light cluster or similar. It all looks proper factory style with the right connectors. Just did a VCDS scan on it and can't find the module to enable the electrics. I'm a complete novice with VCDS. I re-set his service indicator though so all is not lost!
The van is a 55 plate and has a 7H chassis code if that is any use to anyone!
