Cut it down, and retap the stick

Ha I think mines too low and want it next to my steering wheel. But need short throws first

unless the gear knob is too high, i bought the car with an aftermarket gear knob so i dont really know tbh,

There isn't a right or wrong just more of what you like.

Run an m12 down the stick before you cut it,its easier this way,i cut about 2 1/2 - 3 inches off and finished it off with a gaiter from ebay and a mk2 golfball knob, bit more force needed to get it over to fitfh as shorter stick has less leaverage but im use to it so no biggie

I want to do this! I've got a corrado cable shifter, I'm thinking about mounting on top of the tunnel so it should sit level with the wheel. Then make an ally box around to make it look a bit nicer

That sounds like a great idea!!

Did this to a mk1 not so long ago ,nice high stick and the alloy box that normally sits under the car doesnt look to out of place,no need to hide it,looks well hard

After the paint job, the dash is coming outto replace the heater matrix, so will have a play with it then and see what I can come up with

I've been looking at VW motorsport shifters

If you wanted to, you could use the stick from a corrado shifter in the mk3 shift box, this will shorten the rod nicely, depends what tools you have at the time, if I was to do it again I'd get the correct die as my m12 wasn't the right course of thread, much quicker than what I had to do, but thort I'd suggest it as there's many ways to crack the nut... Anyhow, fitted that shifter setup into my mk2 an now I want it longer.... Much longer so am fabbin a cradle for it to sit on inside the car now to raise it up lol things we do eh
