Title: Holes in dash.

Is it just the 2 golfs ive owned or do all golfs have holes all the way across the front of the dash where it meets the windscreen? Theres about 6 in all. Anybody know what should fill these holes?

don't think i have them... but i can't see them from the inside so im not sure... jsut got back into comp room at college from goin out to check and forgot to have a look from the outside... duh  :laugh:

im not goin out to look again,, its a long way to the car park from here, im parked next to a mk2gti and it's all smashed in  :grin: makes mine look great

I've got those holes on my dash too always wondered what they were for? so can't help but I want to know too!

Me too! I was meaning on posting the samw question!

I have them on my 16V and i had them on my 8V too!

I thought they were mewnt to have the faomus platic plugs in and had not been replaced due to the dash being removed or something??

While were at it, what are those moulds in the metal of the front doors for? tou the ones about 14" up from the catch?

Funny u should mention that Deefadog I thought that the other day and all I could think was there for fitting suicide doors now all I need is a doner car to try it out on!  :laugh:

I've got them on my 90 valver as well; nothing to do with blowing air onto the windscreen to stop it steaming is it? (Coz if it is I gotta tell you it don't work in my car!)

Maybe it's for adding air con vents to mk2's abroad? other than that all I can think is it's for keeping your ginsters sausage roll warm on the motorway!

Well after a trip to a local breakers i managed to borrow a set of extra boot pannel push clips which seem to fit the dash holes nice and tidy it up a bit.

I have them on my '90 16V also.....after a bit of asking around the best answer I've had is that they are there to allow the plastic to 'breathe' and stop it cracking in extreme heat or years of sunlight coming in through the windscreen.....  Other than that, I'm stumped too!

i was told the two little covers on the door pillars are for automatic seatbelts that was a US option

Gambit - That makes sense for the door pillars!

Mk2GTI2.016v  - I know what you meant about the suicide doors :) I guess the way the mould is, it does suggest a hand could fit in there :)

Now, those damn holes :)
