Title: Mk3 GTi 16 ...your ideas on interior and chassis mods
Post by: Koose on 08 October 2012, 19:31
Hey guys

Once i crack this issue, its time to get cracking on the cars ...standardness. Im thinking :

Gaz coilovers with a yet to be decided spring rate. Some camber adjustable topmounts. Full superflex poly bush kit all round.
Some interesting wheels (will require much thought).

Brake upgrades in the form of larger calipers and discs. Braided hoses, Dot5 fluid. Possibly new master cylcinder unless theres one off another vag thats an improvement.

Interior. Its dull, its shiny, and it makes it feel old. If im going oem plus, what can i do? Ive got Some OEM Recaros on her at the mo think its some special edition. But pedals, carbon bits, Tints. New steering wheel, gearknob, gear gaitor,  and any othger oem bits i can swap out for extra comfort and ergo sheek. Perhaps a mk4 dahs and wheel? Is that possible?

Start out cheap and simple until my turbod ABF lump starts terrorising my bank manager. (Oh wait, i am my bank manager! win)

ALl those whove helped o far, you wont be forgotten, i have something planned to payback all the lovely gents and chaps who have helped a new to the dub scene old man, fulfil his dreams.

One step at a time  Have you changed your crank sensor yet?!

For steering wheel you reminded me that I had found this but was £180 delivered from the US... OEM+ for sure! (second pic down)

Retains the airbag which I like and looks much better than standard.

And have a look at this 312mm guide for the brakes:

Some camber adjustable topmounts.

Can I ask why?

You can get -3 degrees ish on the standard strut adjustment - more if required by using a round file!
Why would you want to spend a fortune on adjustable top mounts that you don't need?

Unless it's caster you are after?

Also if you fit some stiffer anti roll bars you won't need so much camber.

Sounds more like a wish list to me

Thank you for your kind words. AS far as a wishi list goes, without waiving my (perhaps not very big wanger out) ive owned the worlds fastest FWD street legak car (i didnt build it though, just maintained). Converted a B16 to turbo, D16 to supercharger, and this was my last :

9 months of blod sweat tears. A smiggeon over600 in a car that weughed 1200kilos. Was immense fun, even had me mam help fitted the turbo.
