Hi all,
Ok so im wanting to get my car remapped in the next couple of months after I'v had all the mods done on my 1.8t AGU.
I really wanted to go to r-tech but I rang them up and they told me that they need the car for 1 week! And since I live 190 miles away it's not really an option for me.
So I was wondering whether anyone could tell me of a good remappers in kent? I want to know that my car will be in safe hands lol
Thanks in advance

Yes. AMD are a reputable firm I do believe. I think there is a chap on here, a forum sponsor who is a mapper in your area. Have a browse

Ok mate thanks a lot.
I rang up amd and they said they can do a custom stage 2 map in one day whereas r-tech said they need one week to do this, just wondering why this is? Makes me wonder if their safe to use or not.
-
Probably R-tech make 110% sure than the custom setup they have done is perfect for the car under all operating conditions
-
Yeah, I would go to r-tech but it's a long way for me to go lol.
Perhaps I should just bite the bullet and try amd!
Cheers

What Chris said. I imagine the stage 2 will be a 'generic' stage 2 map which will be on many other cars, as opposed to a full custom map which would be set up just to your car

So whats best generic or custom?

It all depends on what you want from your car mate and how far you are going to take it (performance wise).
Custom remaps are tailored not only to your modifications, but how your car performs with those modifications and runs in general. A custom remap from a reputable outfit will make sure all the parts of your car (performance mods) are working together as well as they possibly can both in terms of performance and reliability.
A generic file will still see results but may not achieve the best results possible unless your car happens to be identical to the car the generic map file was developed on. Unlikely.
In my experience a lot of the custom maps out there are sometimes cheaper than generic files!
I live North of Aberdeen and have taken 2 of my own cars to R-Tech for a custom remap and would have no hesitation taking a 3rd when the time comes.
I realise however that this isn't practical for everybody and there are also other tuners out there (whoI'm sure R-Tech can recommend), who can also offer an impressive level of service.

thanks for all of your help everyone i think were going to take a trip to see r-tech lol
-
Good choice you wont regret it Il bet my wage on it lol
-
Lol, yeah I hear nothing but praise for r-tech!
I probably wont be getting the map done until december time, does anyone know if its safe to instal my fmic and run it without being remapped for a couple of months?
-
Yeah itl be fine mate, might be a little laggy but not alot.
I didnt notice a massive difference but I did remove the little k03 turbo the same time and replaced it with a K03s
-
ok thank's a lot, that's what im planning on doing. Sorry for all the questions but could you tell me wat gaskets etc you changed when you did the turbo change?
Thanks jamie.

Id consider uprated fuel pump and new filter aswell. Get a nice 3-4" cold air feed from lower grille to airbox aswell.
Speaking first hand of a AGU the same spec as yours (with a few others) - I can gaurentee the Nick is certainly the man for the job on this one. Smile/grin from ear to ear = gaurentee.
-
Ok mate, where the best place to get a cold air feed from?
Cheers for the help
-
I wouldnt worry about the cold air feed mate, when your up R-tech buy there filter and heat shield.
As Chris says dont go no where else R-tech is the place for 1.8t's end of.
