Title: ABS Problem
Post by: richardgrantham on 07 October 2003, 00:56
hello all

i just purchased my first vr6 and the abs light wasnt working, i found out that it has been disconnected so when i reconnected it it stayed on, obviously done for a reason, i had a garage look into it, and the loom was burnt out, and had been fiddled with, again probably for a reason, so had that rewired and a new loom put in, and now the abs works, but when u are going really slowly and  start breaking, the abs makes a computer type werring noise and starts to lock up, wondered if anyone may have any ideas what this could be, im convinced its the actual abs brain, any ideas? would be very grateful of some help. cheers

Not sure what you mean, does the control unit make a noise when applying the brakes?

You can try changing the ABS relays, other than that you will probably have to go to VW to get it checked out.
