Title: How many miles do you get to a tank of fuel full to red?
Post by: monzablue16v on 12 July 2005, 00:44: I drive an 89 16v kr with ported and polished head, full s/s exhaust and manifold.

I get around 250 miles to a tank of sainsburys super unleaded.

I am starting to think my bus has an octane addiction as I'm sure
I used to get more to a full tank, could be my right foot!! :grin:
Sso what are your figures guys n gals???

when i ran my modded lump it still did the same apart from when i ran carbs and then it would 'just' do 250 miles!

250 sounds very low for your mods IMO

You don't drive down Wakefield road from Grange Moor to Horbury Bridge do you? That is one sweet road. I am normally on there at around 6.30 and you can fllllly down there!

Had her tuned up not long back and co is still at 2.0? and coil/ht side is fine fuelling seems fine I am most confused by t'old girl! fuel is expensive enough as it is without going through two tanks a week!! My mfa isn't working but i think thats the speedo head, any ideas on what to fiddle with to try and get some more economy out of her aside from taking the lead from my foot!

guess its running a bit rich too!

Is that a K-star chip baby blue? need to do something to t'old girl because something ain't right any reccomendations of a garage ooop north (Yorkshire/Manchester) who can reset her brain and fettle with t'old girls wotnots?

Post by: gstar-dubworld on 21 January 2006, 15:56: Further refinement to the ecu fuel & iginition map has just given us a return of 380 miles to a tank last week, with approx 4 litres still left in the tank just short of a gallon, therefore it was on for a 400 mile return.

Most of this was mix driving, with a variety of roads. Our engine has now covered 157k with no real issues, I personally have put 23k on the car since buying it in Sept 2004, every mile has been enjoyable.

I thought I might have had it sorted by now but it goes like a train so I may well be looking at a trade off.
Gstar-Dubworld is that a 16v as I always thought the injection was mechanical so unchippable? ? I think we should have a chat ;)

Other than that happy with it now as it's not a daily driver anymore it is a weekend and showtime "toy" so it's not as important but travelling to shows could be very pricey this year and RTTS is a remortgage job!!

still 200-250 a tank after a R/R session and an italian tuneup at York Dragway!!

:shrug: I dunno what to do!

Mines all been set up correctly and our cars have same sort of mods so must just be our heavy feet?! :grin:

It's just I've got the fuel gauge down to the red a couple of times, when filling her up I get about 40 litres in there. Does the gauge err on the side of caution?? :rolleyes:
