Title: How to tell diffrence between 8v & 16v gearbox

Hi guys how can you tell the diffrence in the above ? Is there any coded stamped in that you can see once fitted to the car ? Thanks :)

Gearbox Code is stamped on underside of bellhousing. 2y is a 16v box
