Hi guys, i dont see my little 1.4 lasting that much longer, tappets have started to become alot louder, not burning oil, but im still keeping it serviced etc, waiting for it to give the gohst up and was wondering, can i place a 1.6 straight in the hole? providing i have the loom ecu, and running gear etc, or failing that as i have a spare 1.6 audi A3 engine, would that be possible to mount? regards Luke.

For any gain you will see it is just not worth fitting plus your insurance will go up, better to stick another 1.4 in tbh.

Replacing a terrible engine with a terrible engine IMO. If you're in a position to buy/insure/run a 1.8T, try sell your current one and get yourself into a GTI instead. There's some great bargains to be had out there at the moment.
