Just spotted an oil leak, it looks like its coming from the underside of the black box on the (throttle body?)
Black box arrowed.

Arrow 1: Looks like where the leak is coming from
Arrow 2: Is getting wet because of it.

Just coming up to 45,000 miles on the clock and this looks like it could be the first fault.
-
Hope you get it sorted pal...
-
Booked in Tuesday 30th of October for the oil leak and the rusty boot struts to be looked at.
-
Looks like an egr valve from the pics, I'll take a look at mine when I see it (one of my lads has been using it fir months now) to see if mine is leaking too
-
Will be interesting to see what they say, I believe the seal is gone between the EGR and the throttle valve. 45,000 miles, is yours anywhere near that mileage wise? I believe its actually running down this bit.

The annoying thing with oil is it could be seeping from just about anywhere close to/above that area. Obviously eve makes sense being a diesel and all, but just have a really good check around and above just to rule anything else out as it could just be collecting there

31k ish and counting

The GTD is in for repair now just have to wait and see. Got a 1.2TSI 105bhp Design New shaped Beetle with a 7 speed DSG which is ok. What I do like is the Fender sound system hooked up to the RCD510, fortunatly I pulled the flash drive from mine before it went in and and was cranking the stereo for the 45 min journey home. It certainly gives the Dynaudio a run for its money. I have a feeling that the Fender is better.... So I hope the mk7 has fender as an option. I found out when I got home there is a box in the boot that is Fender BassMax, it did sound good. Will try and take pictures tomorrow and post them. 42 mpg so far and that included some Sport Mode foot to the floor off the line action.
-
^^
Did they say how long they might have the car for?
-
Maybe get it back tomorrow, I think based on the photos they had already got a new EGR valve in.
-
Not got it back today, will be tomorrow evening. They have replaced the entire EGR valve and the reason they are keeping it over night is they ordered the rear boot struts that were rusty and are replacing them tomorrow.
The beast (Beetle 1.2 TSI 7spd DSG, Design, Cruise, Front and Rear sensors, 17" retro wheels, Fender Sub/Speaker package with RCD510).

that looks truly horrid
Thats what everybody at work thinks.
Cons:
I have already encountered the frameless windows don't wind up again and think somethings stuck and rewind down again.
I miss the rear wiper to clean the rear screen in the rain.
No dimming mirror or auto lights.
The door pockets elastic is just plain cheap.
Its only a 4 seater.
Can't pull up the hand brake because of the mk4 golf/bora arm rest when its in the down position.
Mpg is averaging 41 at the moment.
Rear view mirror is too small.
Heater is erratic compared to the GTD's climate control.
It seems to pick up all smells from cars in front. Never really noticed that it the GTD.
Boot is a bit useless my ruck sack when sitting normal gets crushed at the closest edge to the bumper when the boot is closed.
The MFD is not as good as the golf.
No temperature guage (although I did notice there is a digital one in the MFD).
No glasses holder in the roof console just a hole.
No bluetooth control on the MFD.
Steering wheel controls lean in and are too low.
No bolsters on the seats.
Pro's
The Fender stereo rocks.
It is retro.
DSG is quite nice does 40mph in 7th.
Handles reasonably well.
Engine is virtually silent apart from when driven hard.
I do believe it can achieve greater than 50mpg.
The bluetooth and RCD510 displays my phonebook correctly where as mine doesn't.
To put it mildy I want my Golf back.
-
Yes it looks  but it just makes you appreciate what you have...
The DSG looks cheap in that disguise, It's far to round for my liking, but regard it as a girls car anyway...
Bring on tomorrow then!
-
Yeah my baby is back, its nice to have horsepower again.
Looks like a new shiney EGR valve to me.

Good to hear you've got it back...WOW that's is shiny!
-
Yeah its great, makes you appreciate the GTD. It shames other models and cars.
-
I quite like the look of these new beetles - I'd change some of the colours but I like the overall apperance
