I've a w reg 2.0 gti mk4 golf and my stereo has a CD player and a tape deck underneath but will a double din stereo fit and work if as I want them taken out
-
i think you need the specific double din cage to make the unit fit, there is a strip of plastic across the middle of the current cage separating, the 2 units, not sure if you can just trim that and fit the double din, you will get one in somehow just not sure on the specifics
-
Yeah take the old stereo out and put new one in.Double din should come with a cage if its new.
-
You need to get a plastic adaptor which acts as a cage. You can find them on autoleads on eBay as a mk4 double din adaptor I think.
-
Just seen on eBay a double din system with Bluetooth DVD GPS ect for £130 and the cage for it cost an extra £17.99 would I need to change the antenna for GPS to work
-
It should have a seperate antenna..I broke mine :(
-
i have an AVIC sat nav double din in mine and it had the VW MFD in when i got the car, i left the VW aerial in but the plug at the stereo end on the vag unit was at a 90 degree angle whereas the new pioneer one was straight, mine was supplied with a gps antenna as should yours be but if not they don't cost that much, mine said to mount in facing the sky on the dash, it had a magnet on it so i fitted in to the right of the interior light upside down magnetised to the roof (under the head lining obv)

type, mk4 golf double din, into google, should come up with a list of products that slot straight in......got mine from the bay for £180 all in for everything and works perfect, the exact same unit from halfrauds wants £440 with out bluetooth, lucky my old man taught me how to count

i dropped lucky with a Pioneer AVIC double din unit that had a sticker on the box saying £799.95 and i paid £300 cos it was a display model that had been behind a full sheet of perspex since the day it arrived at the store so no sticky fingers on it, superb stereo and if i was ever to upgrade i couldn't get anything less than an AVIC unit now
