Title: T4 or..
Post by: negawsklov on 06 October 2012, 21:26
Probably goes against the VW grain but I've got 3k to spend on a van and cant decided if I'd rather get a new shape Vito (rust free off course!!!) or an older T4. My mate has a Vito and loves it.  Will be using to potter round the local area doing bits of work for my new business I've started.  Anyone with experiences with Vitos and T4's?

Ta
Mike

In terms of being a van I think the two are both good, however if ya thinking of doing any mods then you'll probably find VeeDub bits cheaper. Happy hunting and good luck with ya new business!

You seem to get sooo much more for your money with a vito, I keep looking at them for a mountainbike/camping/adventure wagon

having owned both i would say the vw is better built and more solid but the vito looks better!

cheap and easy to lower a t4 too - 2 bolts on the back to replace the springs, wind the torsion bars down at the front.

for that sort of money i would be tempted to get a vivaro. would get a much better van

The gf drives a t4 and its a cracking van, a bit dear over here tho! I'd definately opt for the 2.5tdi if you do go down that route, its a great engine!

T4 all the way.I had one a couple of years ago (really miss it ) and it was a quality van.I had the "combi" with a second row of seats and side windows, dropped on 20's colour coded etc...
Vitos are rot boxes. We do merc warranty at work and they are just terrible.Hope this helps
