Title: Coming/leaving home
Post by: KennyGTI on 06 October 2012, 20:01
Ok, I have the option set for coming and leaving home set via on board comp. now the car lights come on when I unlock the car in the dark ok but should they not come on once I open the car door at night? I had this set up on my gti but can't understand why it's not working on my R??

Kenny

IIRC you have to pull the left stalk (main beam flash) towards you before you get out to activate the coming home function

Another IIRC (!), I agree that the coming home function is activated in the GiT once you have flashed your main beams

With the Mk6 you have to flash main beam once you have turned the ignition off, but it is possible to change the settings for the lights to remain on automatically, as they did in the Mk5 using VCDS. I've done mine, but it was a long time ago and I can't remember which box I ticked to do it.

So it's a vagcom job then. I must of done it aswell dubber but too long ago to remember!!

Want to set it up so it's automatic instead of flashing the head lights

Is this part of the "rest of the world" setting?

Me too and I didn't have that optin re the lights so it must be something you set in central electronics?

It is...
I can't remember exactly where, but you can set leaving lights to come on when you unlock, and coming home lights to trigger either headlights or foglights (on a GTI etc) on either ignition off or door open.
I'm sure I have foglights coming on with door open on mine.

Changed mine also to activation on door opening, miles better than flashing before you get out.
