not really,
1, Dover calais is cheaper than the IoW ferry
2, 3 way split on costs for my vehicle, 4 way for the other one
3, fuelling up in Belgium for Fuel and Smokes, profit to be made off them
and after all, you only live once, make the most of it

Indeed. I drove to Italy earlier this year. It really isnt as expensive as you would think!

I love road trips! I've driven all round Europe with work and find that even though most main roads in Europe are 2 lane, they don't suffer from congestion as bad as here!
Hope all goes well

Khare drove to Spain last year, ask him how much that cost?

VW tdi caddy van, few hundred kilos in back, from Sheffield to Cologne via the tunnel (so basically your exact route to German border), various trips out in evening over the course of a week. Filled up the evening I left and van had just dropped into reserves just shy of 600miles. Cost 75 euros to fill just outside Cologne city centre. Was about 1E35/L I think and this was in May.
