Title: Electric Garage Door Opening Button?
Post by: p3eps on 04 October 2012, 19:26
I got the keys for my new house yesterday, and finally have a double garage... with an electric door!

I've seen somewhere that people have modded their keyfobs to connect to a switch down beside the ashtray.
I'm quite competent in wiring / soldering etc, so am happy to do this - but I need a blank switch... or I've even seen someone with a pic of a garage door on one.  Where do I get a blank switch?  Or even better - the one with the garage door on it?

Good starting point.

Simpler and more discreet version is to buy a 'cigarette lighter' type opener (not sure what make yours is but ours is Hormann.)

Take the top off (the bottom is just an empty canister to fit in the cigarette lighter and slide this into the sun visor (there is a 'flap' for documents) - sorted

I have one of the Hormann openers and it works really well.  I didn't realise it came apart - I'll try that tip tomorrow.

Thanks for the replies...
I already ordered that Hormann one yesterday morning, as we needed an extra remote anyway.
I found it for £28 from Poland, which was pretty good cause they were about £60 over here.
I'd much rather have the proper button, so I'm going to order that garage button from http://carstyle4you.com
Hopefully it'll take a while to come - as I have far more important things to be doing at the moment!!
