Title: Remap - what's the insurance premium uplift?
Post by: Ginge 35Edition on 04 October 2012, 18:57
Been in touch with Superchips and gonna be settling on a deal for them to use my edi as a TT car. Just wondering what I should expect the insurance to go up by, assuming I tell them

Who you insured with at moment as they may not cover you, also some allow only 10% increase in BHP, with SC you are going to be around 290bhp

My insurance is due for renewal in November so I'd shop around then I guess.

I had to change insurers to account for my mods, now with Sky Insurance

I just renewed with sky insurance

Declared all mods including bluefin, suspension and exhaust etc and the price was only a kick in the arse above the 2nd cheapest I could find without mods aloud.

Best to declare the remap IMO for a same of literally a few quid.

Give sky insurance a try and you get a discount for being on here. I posted a review in the insurance section about them

My premium went up by £80 for the year when I advised them about the remap.

I have the Bluefin (stage 1) remap and thought I'd be sensible. I have a multicar policy with Admiral and they increased my policy at the rate of approx £1 per additional BHP, so approx £50-£55. Worth it in my opinion, for peace of mind at least.

Just done a quick go compare quote check and it ranged from £400 to a whopping £10.5k!!!!

I'll speak with my insurers on Monday to see what their quote is not that I have an idea, but the prices above seem fair enough especially when ya think the remap will be for nowt.

definitely give sky a call

all mods are like for like covered which is not something admiral do so if someone drives into the back of you  and wrecks the milltek they will replace it.
