hmmmm i thought the same. I know theres nothing connected to the back of it.

I always thought it was like an anti-scratch pad if you miss the barrel with your key.

I think it is the Warning triangle/first aid kit. No mention of it in the manual. Think it regulation to carry one in 'urope.
