Title: 8v and 16v inner lifter fuel pump

Afternoon i need to relace my inner fuel pump is there much diffrence in the above ? Also how difficult is it to fit a inner fuel pump ? Any help or advice would be great :)

The plug pins are not all the same but the lift pump inside the tank should be interchangable?
How many pins have you got on your current plug?

You can just swap the small lift pump in the assembly but its a bit of a chore.

The intank removal is easy. 3 phillips head screws. Disconnect the 2 fuel lines, discconect the wiring. Flat head screw driver and a hammer to undo the housing (anti clock) and the pump lifts out.

I don't think there will be any difference between the two lift pumps.

The difference is in the pressure pump - the lift pump is just ensuring there's always fuel available to be pressurised.

Brilliant thanks for the help ..im not sure what pump (pins) will have a look when i get in .. Its just a top end car feels its struggling for fuel im running a 20vt conversion i knew in the back of my mind i should of renewed the pump

I found it easy to replace this on my MK" - can be done without the need to remove the fuel tank from the car - access is via the black metal cover plate in the boot (3 screws).

I think there are 2, 3 and 4 pin lift pump connectors, however the pump itself is the same on all the ones I have dealt with. 

Be careful when refitting that the new pump does not fall off the unit (the rubber seals can perish with age)

You need a lot of patience to refit the big plastic nut that holds the unit into the tank! Dont cross thread this!!! enjoy!

im going to be fitting one to my  driver very soon, anyone know if a ce1 loom has the connection already? if so where would it be hiding?

easiest way to prevent cross threading is to turn in the undo position for at least a turn then turn to tighten, usually there is a click when turning to undo, this is when the threads line up ready to tighten
