changed my turbo yesterday, from the ko3 to the ko3s (quite an easy job when you have all the right washers and gaskets from VW), keeping the standard intercooler but changing the pipework to the blue silicone stuff, what kind of HP will it be once remapped? its a 1999 AGU 150bhp thanks in advance :) im hoping 200bhp will be achievable
-
220ish with standard actuator.
-
I have the same set up but my pipework has red silicone stuff.....does it make mine faster...
-
lol i dont no wether keep it standard at 150bhp because i want keep it a long time and not destroy it, its had too much spent on the car to blow it up, somebody has told me change the N75 valve and this will help me get more boost ? is this right ? thanks for the comments

any decent tuner will check your car over before they map it an if they dont think it will be suitable they will tell you
-
A different N75 valve will not give you more boost. A remap is the only safe way
-
ive decided to keep the standard AGU map (150bhp) on the ko3s it runs smooth feels just like before, but am i right in thinking with this ko3s running at 150bhp it will last longer because its running lower power than it should be ?
-
K03s ran 150bhp and 180bhp
-
thats just made me feel better about keeping it 150bhp :) cheers mate
-
What was the reason you changed the turbos in the first place??
-
220ish with standard actuator.
theres loads of people out there with agu ko3s running more than 230+bhp with standard actuator.
-
Really? I think its fair to say that 95% of OEM actuators are now becoming weak so the power level qutoed is more ideal. Better than saying to someone your going to get 230bhp (which is a pretty decent task from a k03s and needs plenty supporting mods) and them coming away with loads less power and a dangerous N75 duty cycle and too much boost causing potential issues in future.

yea totally understand. its your fault people expect high numbers from there ko3s
-
Innocent!
Lets say mine was far from your average modded 1.8T though.
-
the reason i changed the turbo was because it was causing the car to stutter in the low rev range, i had white smoke, and my intercooler kept need be emptied of oil, its just with me spending so much money on the turbo and parts i dont want it ruining :) it feels the same as the old turbo just without the problems
-
if it was white smoke then its steam(engine burning coolant). blue smoke would indicate turbo or valve failure.
-
Can also get white smoke from oil. Usually when the turbo dies you get white smoke?
-
cool, thought you changed it for more power thats all :embarrassed: :lipsrsealed:
-
swap him for yours rio !

lol should do but its not necessary if i build my hybrid

yeah would like do it for power and my first thoughts were power mate, your not wrong, i just have spent a lot of money and changed my idea as i dont want destroy a nice car :)
