Could someone please tell me what tyres come on the mk6 golf gti as standard? Also what tyres do you guys rate? Cheers
-
You got whatever VW had done the best deal on at the time. Most are Dunlops, next are Bridgestones, the Goodyears or Michelins if you were lucky.
I've got the noisy Dunlops. I've just fitted Hankooks to my Passat and have to say they are as good as any Michelins I've had before. They will definately be going on the Golf next, it's just going to be a long wait as it only does around 5000 miles a year.

My Golf GT had Dunplops are they were noisy.
My GTI came with Bridgestones.
-
Mine came with Dunlop Sportmax from the factory,
Changed them to F1s and found them noisy and not very grippy, my last 2 sets have been Yokohama Advan Neovo and I have found them to be best tyre for me, really grippy, quiet, and surprisingly good in the wet also,
But now the weather is starting to change I will be putting the winter willies on soon, Vredstein ultrac's

Mine came with Dunplops, hated them, uneven wear and horrible road noise.
Replaced them with Goodyear Asymmetric II's and they are superb.

My R has Dunlop Sport Max GT's, and cannot fault them!

Are they much smaller and softer?

Bridgestone
Dunlops
Continental
Were the mian suppliers for the GTIs from the factory.
Bridgestones are noisy, Dunlops go blocky and loose grip once they ware down, Continentals crack with age. Cannot win
-
The two front Micheln Pilot Sport 3's are pretty dead on my GTD and all four will be replaced with the Michelns. Quiet, grippy, reasonable wear rate.
-
Mine came with Continentals - can't fault them as yet, but definitely better than the Bridgestones!
-
Im not a great fan of the continentals i have them on the leon and after a few years they cracked and started to split between the treads. When i got them changed they actually split when they compressed the tyre to remove them. The tyre fitter said continentals just don't last long so if i was not doing alot of miles to use another brand which i did.

Well having looked on my car turns out ive got Falkens on the front and Arrowspeeds on the back  and they are nearly new  Looks like ive got a couple of years to decide what to put on next!

You might find that come the summer you'll want to swap them out before you need to.
If you go to Tyre Barn down Bone Lane and they'll give you a great price on some Goodyears...

Hey Jim. You may well be right, but I kinda stretched myself buying this car. Oh we'll time will tell.
How much did you pay for your good years? I normally go to Headley tyres.

I paid £130 a tyre at Tyrebarn & Headley were £135 and I didn't have to wait for 4 hours for them to do it.
I won't go to anyone other than Tyrebarn now.

Ok nice one cheers. Might have to give them a whirl. Presumably they were gentle with your Monzas

They sure were, they check the wheels and make you aware of any damage they see prior to the fit. Top guys.

Just forked out for 4 new ones, Michelin Pilot Sport 3 a mere £545 all in. Just filling in the form to claim the £50 fuel card from Michelin. 18,000 from the Front michelins, 45,000 from the rear Bridgestones.
