very nice a rugby sock is another way to do it
-
Good idea, but how long will they stay on for?
-
thought only bikes an quads done this :undecided:
-
rugby socks stop all the crap only thing is they are a bit harder to take off  stops the coils getting corroded tho
-
Cully understands ! Rugby socks would work but cotton would wear quick this stuff really strong and is removable without taking scissors to it. Ive just spent 400 quid on something and with the sh!t weather we get i think there worth £10s worth of fabric and a bit of time !
-
good job ad mate was thinking of doing mine a while back but chances are they are already fooked
it will save quite a lot of the crap from building up on them only one suggestion is to try and cable tie the bottoms tighter to the stop the crap from going up and under if that makes sense
:embarrassed: just seen you gonna use cord
-
tried this one myself out of my daughters old motorbike jacket sleeves, didnt last long though.
-
Ahhh i didnt even think of cable ties  i dont understand how they wont last to be far unless the wheels rub on them !
-
I will also be putting ptfe ??? Tape round the exposed threads.
This may seem all abit extreme but as i said £400 is alot of money
-
!!!!! get some dessicant to go in there to soak up the moisture, the little packets you get with new shoes will do!!!!
i put exclamation points as its important, you can do more damage covering them up sometimes, but the ptfe is a damned good idea!
-
And it don't hurt to try mate
-
Thats another good idea but i dont know how to secure them in there :undecided: the materials waterproof though so hopefully it will do the trick il check on them in 6 months and see what the deal is ! The threads are the main thing though so the ptfe tape will work perfectly i could even wrap the whole thing in it
-
What do you think copper slip the threads then wrap in ptfe tape and wind the adjuster down over the ptfe ?
-
something like this would even occur to me, but then again i have never lowered a car :embarrassed:
How long would something like this be expected to stay on the car for?
-
Im not quite sure how i came across it to be fair. Ideally if it does what i want it to im hoping it atleasts lasts a year but then it might last 5 days !
-
Honestly mate, I put some coilovers on my car, put three thick runs of copper grease down them, winded adjusters up and down to spread it, wiped a load more on and then used and abused the car, mum used it for 4 months and was never really cleaned etc, sat for ages, I got it back, wiped the grease off the coils and they were like new. Adjusted no worries.
Coat them in copper grease and then put ya cover on. Top job! :afro:
-
I've always been told not to use these as damp gets stuck behind them and makes things worst. All I've ever done is cover the threads in copper grease and you will never have no issues.
-
Hmmm i suppose and yeah i done that to my joms and they were in very good condition to be fair once they've settled and i drop them down abit more they will get a extra thick wad of copper slip
