ok today i stripped my door cards (well one of them so far) as i am going to remove the fabric and retrim them in some nice fabric and make them look new again.
i have stripped one down and got all fabric off and noticed under the fabric the chipboard or what ever the door card is made from has a pattern inbeded into it like it has leather and stitching. has anybody ever cleaned this up and painted it to see what they look like painted?
this is the door card with fabric removed. wasnt expecting to see this.

I have not heard of anyone painting their doorcards after removing the material but what have you got to loose! If it doesn't look good then you can just cover them as originally planned. As it's a formed hardboard it won't be very hard wearing and would probably get chipped & scuffed fairly quickly. You could paint them a lairy colour then when you get bored, change the colour or cover them.

did you ever paint these?
