Title: Push start button
Post by: I_want_GTI on 27 September 2012, 23:48
Hey,

Just out of curiosity has anyone done this to the car? For a push start button?

(And from other threads that I started before - I finally got my GTI and picked her up on Tuesday and can't stop driving it!!)

You won't need a push start, if your always driving it...

Just joking...there has been various discussions about this and it's not a uk spec item...

If it's an option on euro models the parts will probably be available to retrofit it. I would advise against it though.. not just because it would be hugely expensive but electronic steering lock failures are quite common. Scary thought having your steering wheel locked in place on the motorway!

Now do not make me scared....I have choosen that option...do you have a link...
In my new GTI MVI it is keyless entry option and iirc around 500 euro.

Btw...I cannot wait to push the startbutton and see the needle sweep....

I don't think the dial staging (sweep) is enabled on any GTI from the factory? :undecided:

Thanks for that response, was curious in terms of what would the implications be if this could be retrofitted. I'd imagine it would be quite a difficult job without it being built from scratch.

It's so cool though, had it on my previous car - civic type s. doesn't mean I I don't love the GTI though! Best upgrade I've done to date! Haha

Correct....but I drive it straight to a dutch GTI forummember with a Vagcom so he will enable:

Needlesweep, Rainclosing, 15sec Alarm to 0sec Alarm, Teardrop, Foglights turning in corners, Alarmchirp
Closing/Opening, Lights on when faster than 145 km/hr.

Ah, thats cool then! Just didn't want you being disappointed! I've never heard the chirp, i'm not sure if i'd find it annoying or not?

When is your new toy arriving Erik?

Well I am also in doubt about the chirp, but being keyless and closing at the side of the car you have no clear confirmation that it is on Alarm.

The last one was stolen august 9th and the new one due to arrive the end of october...

No links im afraid i'm going by the 2 passats we had in recently for this work and a touareg we have in currently. Seems far more common on the passats, google passat electronic steering lock i'm sure something will pop up! It also plays a part in the immobiliser which is why the retrofit could be particularly tricky.

The chirp was one of the first features I enables with vag.com as I could hardly hear the doors locking so found myself locking - unlocking - locking the car. It was becoming too OCD for my liking

Hi.........question

I have keyless entry but I do not succeed to get my interior lights to work once I press the button to shut down the engine...I am left in the dark

Obviuosly I tried everything switch above my head in all possible ways ,....reading the manual,....searching in carprogramming etc

They work fine and dim when locking the car and come up when opening the car ....

Anyone....

Simple answer...not possible...

When you spec Kessy, VW leaves you in the dark

Maybe getting the key out of your pocket and press it for the lights to come on after pressing  the stop engine button.....what the hell was the designer thinking
