Weird one here, I changed my turbo to a ko3s on Saturday but since then it takes ages for my car to reach 90. Usually does it within the first 5 minutes of driving. I changed my thermostat a year and a half ago and wouldn't expect it to fail that quick. Anybody experiences this?

Was it a genuine stat that you replaced the old one with?

genuine 1s fail to

No it wasn't but it just seems odd that after putting in a new turbo it has failed.

Its defo take out the termo, and put a gen one in 3rd party ones are crap and fail really easy

Did you blead cooling system proper?

True. But I reckon a spurious one has a higher chance of failing after a year and a half more so than a genuine thermostat.
Spurious parts can be a false economy sometimes in my opinion.

It could just be a coincidence that it failed after you installed the new turbo. The first step I'd be taking would be to replace the spurious stat with a genuine one from VW.

Ive had 3 golfs. 2 MK3's and my MK4, all of which had stats that would open and then stay stuck open, confused the hell out of me as when i first came to do it they were closed. think they just a get a bit lazy
