I have a knocking sound when going slow (pulling away slowly), and when going over uneven road surfaces. Any ideas what it could be?
-
you lowered the car or anything? the knocking could be anything really, get it to a garage mate
-
Hasnt been lowered. I am thinking its the drop links to be honest
-
Lower arm bushes maybe? Jack it up and get the wheels off, then use a pry bar to search for excess play.
-
Always bush related when it comes to knocking in a mk4
-
no one thinks its the drop links?
-
mine did this.
check to see if there is play in the rear axel bushes.
-
Mine did that required new rear axle bushes, new struts, new wishbones, and mounts all round basically.
-
Drive shafts? Mine knocks round corners a little. But I know I need top mounts doing.
-
mine has done this for a year now. Obviously I dont know if its the same noise as yours, but I cant find anything wrong. Passed its MOT no probs too. It feels low down at the front, I think it might be the calipers moving around. :undecided:
-
Surely if the calipars are moving that can't be good?

Id check your struts mate, it sounds as if they has lost pressure...

calipers can move when the brakes arent applied.
