Title: Wheel spacers
Post by: Ginge 35Edition on 25 September 2012, 16:27
Thinking about putting some wheel spacers on the rear. Anyone got an opinion on this or any recommendations? Was thinking no more than 10mm.

Yes, do it. 10mm makes the rear wheels sit perfectly.

Being a total technical dumbass please help. What's the difference between hubcentric and non-hubcentric? Which type of bolts would I need I.e. tapered etc? What length bolts would I need? Can you buy locking bolts in pairs?

Gotta be hubcentric otherwise you might get an eliptical fit when wheel back on. Put it another way hubcentric ensures centre bore bang on for wheel placement and yes youll need longer bolts.

Ive had 10mm spacers on every Audi i owned and my Roc but funnily enuff ive kept them of the ED35 for the mo as i think its well set up.

Thanks for that. Which style of bolts would I need I.e. tapered etc?

Ill check my spacer kit and let you know but i think its tapered. Its to do with the bolt seating into OEM wheel I'm sure and i never bothered with longer locking bolts but that just a risk question at the end of the day.

Nice one, I'll whip a bolt off tomorrow and see what they look like. So basically it's just a longer version of the stock ones? Sorry for being totally stupid.

Yes I'll let you know how long mines are tomz as it VAG fit and Ive got H&R 10mm spacers so typically bolt will be 10mm longer.

Not sure about VW fit compared to Audi hub fit but although spacers are the same dimension front and back, the hub can be slightly deeper at back i think so you need same size but slightly more bored out spacer. Ill check

Ive got H&R spacers on my A3.  They were supplied with the longer bolts you require :afro:

I bought mine from DPM Performance.  I think I told him that I had OEM wheels so that the correct bolts were supplied

Ginge

Ive checked the ones i have in the garage and Audi front and back were H&R Trak+ 112/5 pcd and 57.1mm bore Part No 2055571B, they fitted all my Audi's

For my ROC it was same Part No for fronts but because rear hub mount was deeper it still same spec as above but with slightly more machined out chamfer to fit so I'm not sure if Golf will be the same but its part No 2055571A

Bolts measure 40mm of thread to seat of head taper (seating)

As Rhyso says too I got original sets (2) from Damien at DPM performance and the rear set for the Roc from Demon Tweaks

Both 2055571A & 2055571B are Audi/VW fit

Hope that helps

Yeah that really helps. I've been in touch with your supplier and psi tuning in stoke. All I need to do now is to take the plunge.
