Ive got a 2 litre bottom end on my mk2 8 valver, with a fast road cam and exhaust. Ive got hold of a big valve flowed head, a hotter cam and a 4 branch manifold. Is the digi management system clever enough to 'learn' this, or is it worth a re-map or getting hold of a motorsport chip??
Are there any bigger injectors that can go straight in or is it not worth it??

digifant 2 belongs on this bus

lol, you can see K jet sitting in the back too

No, K-jet is dragged along on a rope behind the bus, because it won't mind.

No appreciation of classical engineering!
Whats a day wasted tinkering with them?
-
Cheers for the help guys
Anyone got any actual answers to the questions?
I've built/ tuned / modded plenty of carbed motors over the years, but have never really played with injection. I know digi isn't great, but will I need to do anything with it or will it just plug and play with all the other mods?
-
It'll plug and play and give you flat spots where you don't want them and lean out at the top so you grenade your motor before too long, probably.
You've given it a bunch of stuff outside of its specified operating parameters.
It doesn't do learning, it does looking sh*t up in tables and giving things values according to what it finds in the tables. If it's outside the table values it just gives the bottom/top value and you'll f*cking like it, ok?

Go custom remap once all in its likely with those mods you will not fully use them without proper full remapp! Emerald spings to mind not sure if they are still in business though LOL!

I'm sure there is a off the shelf ECU (plug and play) you can spend your money on.
I like K jet it sucks in as much fuel and air it wants, at expense of fuel and emmissions of course
-
No, K-Jet sucks in some air and some fuel, mostly based on the revs of the engine and the shape of a bowl.
The shape of a f*cking bowl FFS!
-
Its simple and over 20 years old what do you expect?
These were designed to adjust itself as you rev harder.
I've seen decent power out of a 1.8 let me put into context its a bloody old car!!!
I like K jet when it runs right and people throw these old blocks mainly due to vac leaks.
-
I'll look into a remap then, cheers guys. It may be antiquated but this injection is all new fangled to me, I've been playing with air cooled stuff for over 15 years. I rebuilt a D- jet system a few years back, now that was basic!!
Is it worth fitting bigger injectors (or is there anything from later cars) or will the stock ones stand up to the job?
-
stock injectors good to 135 bhp iirc
more fuel pressure or bigger squirters after that, inj body is failrly std so loads of choice for replacements
-
Highly tuned K-Jet has only blown up my engine 4 times... I dont see the problem

I'm hoping for more than that, any suggestions for what other injectors fit? I'm thinking I might go megasquirt or similar with it too.
-
i've used injectors out of loads of diffrent cars before ye old general bosh top feed, chould probaly stick 20vt ones in if you wanted they'll likely fit, various saab ones, vhauxhall ect.
squirt will help you big time compared to digi 2

I'll have a measure up and have a poke around at the scrappy and see what matches, then look up flow rates online. There's a Bosch injection specialist near me owned by a mate of my dad so should be able to find out the info I need. Cheers mate.
