Could anyone tell me how to get hold of VAGcom and what I should be looking to pay for it?

I use VDS lite (the free software) and I got an ebay cable however Im only really able to scan for code and clear them.

i have a copy of vag com and a working trusted keygen that i could email to you but it will only work with windows XP, i have windows 7 on the laptop but also run a virtual drive to run XP to then run vag com, i'm happy to point you in the direction of said needed software if your interested, also i use the blue ebay cable and as yet have had no issues
