Hi everyone new to this site and was wondering where I could get my turbo checked in or around lincoln
Thanks hilly

What do you think is wrong with it? Which car/year?
-
It's the golf 1.8t on a 99 v plate 125bhp . I've just got rid of a bora tdi 150 bhp which the turbo pulled well in every gear . I just don't think the golf gas got much pull in it .just wanted it checking . And when you turn the engine of you can hear it realising air which I don't no if that's normal or not ? Any ideas

The golf in question will not have as much pull (torque) in compared to the 150 TDI. That maybe a waste gate/dump valve that you have installed? :undecided:
-
I haven't done anything to it yet . It does sound like its got a waste gate on it but I thought you had to have a recirculating dump valve on the golf 1.8 t or is that wrong ? What's the best way to get it quicker would it be a remap ?

if its the 125 bhp good luck checking the turbo as erm there isn't one

I did a text check on it before I got it and it said
Vw Golf Gti Turbo 1.8

Was told it was a 150bhp but when I insured it it said 125bhp . Any ideas just to get it checked ?

I am no expert but I reckon the engine cover that says 20V Turbo probably means that you are driving a 1.8T.

Yep that's the 1.8T 20Valve engine..

It will be 150bhp and your diesel was 150bhp. so what are you expecting from it?
Your diesel felt quicker because it has more torque low down in the rev range where as the petrol is more smooth and power is top end. Diesel feels like a kick up the ass, petrol is more of a push.
My diesel van feels faster than my gti but it isn't.
