Hello Guys,
I'm looking for best nozzle location for 1.8T engines. Some users using TB plate for injection some users using post intercooler location for that.
What's the benefits this locations ? Could you please compare them ?
Thank you !!
-
I do not know which is best, but I believe people say giving putting in post and close to the IC gives it maximum time to mix
Weather or not you'd notice a difference if you put on the TB or close to the IC is debatable and perhaps one for some tuner to try out/some one give me a link to a thread
-
After discussing with fellow meth users we figured its best located after the intercooler in the hard pipe before the tb to allow maximum cooling time of the charge
-
closer the inlet the better.

if thats the case then why does nick(rtech) use direct port nozzles?
-
Use the port on top of the throttle body?
WMI is a vapourised mist anyhow.

so there is a forum for drug users??

Doin it direct into the manifold gives the most cooling as it shoots large droplets of water/meth straight down into the engine but for this you need multiport injection
For single nozzle you want to put it straight after the intercooler to allow maximum time for it to mix and also before the sensor.
-
yup, two different types of benefit from the WMI.
Injecting early gives the biggest cooling benefit as the mixture has time to atomise and cool the charge.
Injecting late into the inlet manifold works better with higher concentrations of meth as you're mainly using the octane benefit of the meth.
Both have similar results in that more timing can be added. On a road or track car I'd go for single port injection just post IC. On a car used for drag racing I'd go with direct into each inlet runner.
I plumbed mine in like this:

Hello Prawny,
Can you please share your setup ? also do you have a ignition timing logs and IAT logs ? if you can share i'll be happy.
i'm thinking post IC location but too much tuners using TB plate location.
Also, I need more octane level and lower IAT. this position better than..
Direct injection very fantastic job but all nozzles will come to IAT sensor. How can you solve this issue ? timing will be calculated incorrectly.

I think Nick always recommend it? do you have a some logs ? Thank you
-
What prawny said is spot on. As for why some tuners use the plate after the throttle body, it's because the methanol gets into the circuitry in the throttle body through the seal after a while - of course there are ways to protect the circuitry and guides have been written covering this topic - albeit on other forums.

Mine felt better mounted on the inlet (although it could be placebo lol)
I'll try to get some logs this evening of the inlet temps via VAG COM
-
Thank you, i'll be happy !! Could you please add a ignition timing and CF blocks.
Thank you!!!
-
I've not got any current logs of ignition timing or CF's at the moment as they're pretty pointless in proving anything on my current setup.
Current setup is a VERY conservative map with very little timing added and just 25% N75 DC to make 300bhp from my hybrid, AIT's are below 20 degrees even after a 4th gear pull to 7000rpm, and CF's are 0 across the board.

That's good !

Hello Wazzer,
Do you have a any news ?
Thank you ;)
-
not yet mate sorry, forgot to take the laptop with me yesterday. I'll get some over the weekend for you

Ok my friend, np.. you have a mail ;) please check your mailbox.

I'm also currently running on the small AEM nozzle, not the medium.
Progessive AEM controller coming in at 7psi and rising to full pump at 15psi. doesn't boost much more than 16psi at all currently.
WIll let you know how IAT's fare when the new engine is in soon, should be around 340bhp at 20-21psi, so may have to go up to the medium nozzle
-
Which turbo are you using now? and what's the your WOT afr ?
Thank you mate.

Can't accurately measure AFR with meth injection?
-
We never measure %100 correctly. Because they have different mixture ratio.. Fuel 1:14.7 meth 1:6.4

Thank you mate.
Currently on a ko4-023 hybrid with RS6 turbine and 2283 billet 35lb comp wheel.
AFR on WOT was tuned at 11.9:1 pre meth. havn't had it back in the dyno since meth. New engine will be allowed to let rip as it's got rods :)

Hi Mate,
You can go further with this turbo :) i'm using 20 psi without meth. You can do it with AGU engine :smug:
