Afternoon guys and girls,
Im getting a fairly serious knocking noise from the passenger side front, pretty convinced its the rear bush or balljoint (probably both). Iv been quoted £106+VAT each side, and then £26+VAT a side for the ball joint. And thats not including the R32 rear bushes I want to use. Cant really afford that after paying out on new clutch, cable and release bearing as well as general living.
I dont really want to go after market as they wont be as good quality as genuine, read a few posts about a guy called Tierod69 on Ebay which im thinking about, anyone got experience with these parts?
Failing that I may take the 'bones out, take bushes and ball joints out and replace with new genuine items, wire wool the surface rust, treat and hammerite. Hell of alot cheaper then getting brand new items all round.
What do you guys think?

A few guys on corrado forum have them wishbones fitted from tierod and all good :)
My brother gets his parts from them to and never had any issues
Do the wish bones yourself, soak all the bolts over night and a big bar job done

Thats good to hear, i was reading the thread on corrado forum about them actually. Ill be doing them myself anyways. Ill get a message over to the ebay guy next week.

Having used B&B components (tierod69) for at least 13 years i can firmly say you have nowt to worry about. Speak to Spencer there and he'll sort you out and is very knowledgeable and friendly.
I was also considering the use of their uprated wishbones on my mk3 when i get the time and money...

Cheaper to fit new bushes, but requires more time fitting the new bushes.
Easier to fit new parts complete, so long as you are getting genuine Febi or the like it will not matter who you get them from.
You can weld up the seems a bit for extra stiffness, there is a guide on here somewhere :smiley:

thai-wronghorse, thats good to hear and it looks like ill be giving him a call next week when pay day comes, appreciate it.
I knew the bushes would be an utter ball bag to fit, I think ill save myself the time and just go new everything. About the seam welds, is this a something you would recommend? or just for peace of mind?

I thought seam welding the wishbones was only really necessary on mk1's and 2's?

I know there is no further welding to be done on the Mk3 'Plus' GTI/VR6 bottom arms...maybe the 4 stud stuff is different?
